tono is a pre-send communication coach. this page explains, in plain language, what we collect and what we don't.

how drafts are handled

• on the free ios path, rewrites and replies run on-device with apple intelligence. those drafts never leave your iphone
• on pro, when you choose a cloud rewrite or reply, the draft is sent securely to tono's rewrite service
• on the web composer, a draft stays in your browser until you choose rewrite or reply
• your writing is not used to train models
• tono does not collect analytics on who you write to, when, or about what
• tono does not collect your contacts, calendar, or any data outside the active session

how i sound

how i sound is the customer-facing name for Memory: user-owned voice preferences (life stage optional, how-you-sound chips, humor like/dislike, and one real example). on pro, those preferences ride every rewrite and reply.

• we do not put raw messages, rewrite text, recipient names, or thread history in Memory
• how i sound is not a dossier on the other person, not per-recipient memory, and not a weekly tone report
• your writing is not used to train models

what we do collect (pro tier only)

• your email address, for subscription receipts
• your subscription tier (the pro flag), to gate the pro features
• counts of backend (cloud) rewrites, to prevent abuse and operate the service. on-device rewrites are not counted. rewrite counts do not confirm your subscription

third parties

we use stripe for payments. stripe's privacy policy applies to the data they collect at checkout. we use supabase for auth and subscription state. supabase's privacy policy applies to that data.

data location

supabase data is hosted on AWS us-east-1. stripe data is hosted on stripe's infrastructure (see stripe.com/privacy). no tono data is sold, traded, or shared with anyone outside the two services named above.

deletion

email privacy@tonoit.com and your account + all associated data will be deleted within 7 days.

subscription

Tono Pro is a paid subscription. Eligible new subscribers get a 14-day free trial. After the trial, the subscription auto-renews at $3.99/month or $39.99/year unless cancelled. Cancel anytime from your account page (which opens the Stripe billing portal) on the web, or from Apple ID subscriptions on iOS — no retention, no dark patterns. Checkout is handled by Stripe (web) or the App Store (iOS); your card details never touch Tono.
